About Solar Citizens

Australia has some of the world’s best solar and wind resources, so we reckon powering our lives with cheap renewable energy is a no-brainer. For over a decade we’ve brought together everyday Australians to grow and protect clean technology like rooftop solar and electric vehicles. Now, with more than three million solar rooftops glinting across the country and tens of thousands making the switch to electric transport, it’s safe to say Aussies are leading the renewable revolution.

But right now, Australians are still stuck with energy and transport systems that run mostly on polluting fossil fuels – and it's costing us dearly. That’s why we’re working hard to secure a cleaner, fairer future for all.

Rolling out renewable energy and electrifying our economy—from our homes and transport to manufacturing and exports—is a win-win for our hip pocket and the environment.

Who we are

Solar Citizens is an independent, community-based organisation working to protect and grow renewable energy and transport in Australia.

We represent the millions of Australian households who are powering their lives with the sun, and the vast majority of Australians who support the transition to renewable energy and clean transport.

We obsessively pursue the largest opportunities to bring down carbon emissions, whether that’s in our energy system through the rapid deployment of rooftop solar, or through the rollout of electric vehicles. Our vision is for an Australia where everyone is enjoying the financial and health benefits of clean technology: renewable energy, clean transport, and electrified homes.

We’re independent, meaning that we don’t support any one political party, company or organisation over another.

We’re a registered not-for-profit, relying on the generosity of our large donors and many hundreds of smaller individual donors to help us fund campaigns.

If you believe in a bright future powered by clean energy for all Australians join Solar Citizens today.
